SA UMAGA
(In the Morning)

Penned by Philippine National Artist Lucio D. San Pedro on November 3, 1952, the song "Sa Umaga" (In the Morning) is suffused with the same poignancy and lyricism that endow many of his works such as "Mahal Kong Bayan," "Sa Dalampasigan," "Sa Ugoy ng Duyan," and others. This song, which was beautifully realized on guitar by Bayani Mendoza de Leon, speaks of one's uplifting experience witnessing the unfolding day and all of nature rising in celebration. It pays homage to the sun that is seen as a mighty symbol of hope, joy, passion, and a new beginning.
